State Mapping Advisory Committee

The NMGIC State Mapping Advisory Committee (SMAC) is chaired by Mike Inglis, Associate Director of the Earth Data Analysis Center (EDAC) and Director of the state's geodata clearinghouse, the Resource Geographic Information System (RGIS).

SMAC has guided major statewide mapping initiatives, working with the Department of Interior High Priority Program and the US Geological Survey's Mapping Liaison for NM, Gary Kress. SMAC has worked to acquire financial support for the acquisition of statewide coverages, encouraged multi-agency cooperation in developing the National Hydrologic Dataset (NHD) at high resolutions for New Mexico, and comprehensive acquisitions of Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data products, among other projects.

Mr. Inglis and SMAC were instrumental in the formation of the State of New Mexico Geospatial Data Acquisition Coordination Committee (GDACC).
